Privacy Policy

Last updated: {{EFFECTIVE_DATE}}

This policy explains how GP Automobiles handles your personal information when you visit our website. It is a template starting point and should be reviewed by a qualified data-protection adviser before being relied on for compliance purposes.

1. Who we are

{{LEGAL_NAME}} (“GP Automobiles”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is the data controller for personal information collected through gpautomobiles.com. Our registered office is at {{REGISTERED_ADDRESS}}.

This policy covers our public website only. Separate notices may apply when you sign a sales or rental agreement, become an employee, or interact with us through other channels.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us. When you submit an enquiry, sign up for our newsletter, or contact us through the website, we collect the details you choose to provide — typically your name, email address, telephone number, the Vehicle you are interested in, and the contents of your message.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the website we automatically collect limited technical information such as your IP address, device and browser type, operating system, referring page, the pages you view, the features you interact with, and the date and time of your visit. This information is collected through cookies and similar technologies described in section 3.

3. Cookies & similar technologies

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device. We use the following categories:

  • Strictly necessary — required for the website to function (for example, to remember your theme preference or keep you signed in). These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics — let us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. We use these in aggregated form and do not use them to identify you personally.
  • Marketing — help us measure the effectiveness of our campaigns and show relevant content on third-party platforms, where you have given consent to receive marketing.

You can accept or reject non-essential cookies through your browser settings at any time. Most browsers also let you delete existing cookies. Blocking some cookies may affect how the website works for you.

4. How we use your information

  • To respond to your enquiry, quote, or test-drive request and to provide the information you ask for.
  • To send marketing communications about our Vehicles, offers and services where you have asked us to.
  • To monitor and improve the performance, security and content of the website.
  • To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

We rely on your consent for marketing communications and non-essential cookies. We rely on our legitimate interest in running and improving our business for analytics and for responding to enquiries you initiate. Where we are required by law to keep records, we rely on that legal obligation.

5. Marketing communications

We will only send you marketing emails if you have asked us to. Each email contains an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by clicking it or by emailing contact@gpautomobiles.com. Opting out of marketing does not affect transactional messages (for example, a reply to an enquiry you sent us).

6. Sharing & disclosure

We share personal information only where it is necessary to operate our business or where the law requires us to. This includes:

  • Trusted service providers that host our website, deliver our emails, and provide analytics, acting on our instructions and under written contracts.
  • Regulators, law-enforcement authorities or courts where we are legally required to disclose.
  • A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition or corporate reorganisation, subject to confidentiality protections.

We do not sell your personal information.

7. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected. Website enquiries are typically retained for up to twenty-four (24) months unless an active relationship, legal obligation, or unresolved matter requires us to keep them longer. Marketing-list entries are kept until you unsubscribe.

8. Your rights under Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843)

Under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) you have the right to ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, to correct inaccurate information, to delete information that is no longer needed, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw any consent you have given. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in section 13.

If you believe we have not handled your information properly, you may lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission of Ghana ( dataprotection.org.gh).

9. Additional rights for visitors from the EU/EEA & UK (GDPR)

If you are based in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR give you the same rights described above, plus the right to data portability, the right to restrict processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Where we transfer personal information from the EU/EEA or UK to Ghana or another country outside those regions, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under GDPR — for example, contractual clauses with our service providers — to protect your information.

10. Children’s privacy

Our website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of eighteen (18). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure. No method of transmission over the internet is one hundred percent secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page reflects the current version. We encourage you to review it periodically.
